About Nevada City

broadstreetNevada City, California began as a large Gold Rush era settlement in 1839. The town quickly became a popular stop for travellers passing through on long trips, because of its convenience and ammenities. At the peak of its populace, Nevada City had 10,000 residents, establishing its presence as California's third largest city.

Since the end of the Gold Rush, the population has dwindled quite a bit and today there are a little over 3,000 residents. There are still several buildings from the 1800's that have been preserved, providing a genuinely unique historical feel that not many cities can boast.

There's something to do for residents and visitors of all ages! Several annual events take place year round. Celebrations of all types, like the Mardi Gras and Constitution Day parades. There are fairs and festivals, music and theater performances. Wine tasting at local wineries, dining at delicious restaurants, and hanging out with friends at local bars and clubs.

Come and visit Nevada City, make our home yours!
